These Asiatic Lilies are my pride and joy! I grew them and somehow kept them from being eaten by all the animals that come around here! I filled vintage crystal pitcher with wood ferns and day lily leaves. Oh, and I also stuck in a flower from one of my hostas.
The dinnerware is "Belize" by 222 Fifths. I found this at Marshalls and called my mom from the store knowing this is right up her alley! I got every plate they had for $3.99-$4.99. They are MUCH more than that on ebay.

I used the Oneida "Meadowbrook" silverplated flatware...if I had a bamboo-handled flatware, I would have used that.
The red glasses are Wright "Wild Rose Ruby" depression glass. She made me pack them VERY carefully to carry them across to my house:-)
I used the World Market napkins and bamboo napkin rings from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Guess where the placemats came from? You got it, Wal Mart. I would have chosen square rattan chargers, but since I did not have any, I wanted to show that you can use what you have to set a pretty table. I really like how they look with the plates.

I almost forgot...I used my vintage Fostoria "Baroque" three-lite candleholders. I am in love with these!

The sun begins to set...look at the candleholder...

The sun has set, and evening has arrived. I love the glow of the ruby glass in the candlelight.

I hope you enjoyed my tropical escape to Belize! As always, you can take one new thing and use it with things you have to create a whole new table. Now if I could just get my mom to part with a couple place settings of this:-)
Please go by Susan's and see some fabulous tables!

This is just exquisite! Love those red plates and the whole glow to your table.
ReplyDeleteStunning Anita...your Mom has beautiful dishes, and use them so well. She must love to see your table set. I love the candle light shots.
ReplyDeleteAnita, very pretty! I particularly love that late afternoon shot with the light streaming in on your tablescape.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Thanks for the trip to Belize. Love those dishes and love all the red. Great shots of the sun coming in.
ReplyDeleteAnita...I LOVE this table (red, my favorite). I acutally saw these dishes at TJMaxx and agonized over buying them. I recently bought another set of 222 Fifths and decided I just didn't NEED another set.....I know, who NEEDS dishes, lol! I am glad I got to enjoy them on your gorgeous table :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!

ReplyDeleteEverything is so gorgeous! What a lovely visit I had :0)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! I just got a whole box filled with cutlery that my dad brought to my grandma from his second tour in Vietnam. I believe they are rosewood with bronze. You would love them and they would look beautiful with your place setting! I am so proud to have them and can't wait to use them!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are just lovely and I love how you put the small tea lights all around. Just a lovely glow!
So beautiful plates!

This tablescape goes perfectly in YOUR dining room...so of course, your mom should let you have some place settings! Those red plates and the stemware are fabulous and go so well with everything else you have chosen. I love that you used things you already owned to come up with that terrific 'scape!

ReplyDeleteYou are such an inspirational tablesetter. I just love your tropical theme tables! I really am so impressed with the floral centerpieces you are able to pull together from your yard too! They are stunning! Love those goblets also! So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh Anita those dishes are so pretty and your table looks beautiful as always!!I have dishes by 222 fifth the pattern is Maharana I know you would love them there a red and green paisley.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty table! It got me thinking that I need to borrow some of my mother's dishes too. Isn't it fun when you can get flowers from your garden for the table? They are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis is so gorgeous! I love how your Asiatic lilies echo the pattern in the pretty china, and all the other red elements really set it off, too. Lucky you, to be able to "shop" your mom's collection!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't I inherit ruby Depression glassware? Those are fantastic. The plates are so festive and how dare anyone eat those lovely lilies, don't they know?!! I used Depression ware in my tablescape today too, but they are pale in comparison to yours. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDear Anita, well done on your lovely tablescape. I particularly like those ruby glasses. Just give me a minute and I will be right over for them. By the way, what's on the menu? I've never had a Belize meal before, lol.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
What a lovely table setting! I enjoy how you combined the red crystal and red flowers with the clear crystal and silver items. Along with the yellow napkins, they really set off the “Belize” dishes.
ReplyDeleteMy sister has the round plates and other serving pieces. I did a post showing her table at the following link:

Wowza! This is so gorgeous! Everything is beautiful in any lighting and I, like you, am in love with those Fostoria candle holders. Thanks for posting this and giving us all a little getaway. If it's going to be this hot out, why not go with it?!

Hi Anita,
ReplyDeleteAnother spectacular setting! I especially love the way your Fostorial candleholders seem to be lit from within in the late afternoon shots. I have one of those in the same pattern, and I keep hoping I'll find its mate at an antique shop or estate sale.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Bill
Your centerpiece of lilies is beautiful! Our rabbits ate all mine!!!! Thank you for the trip to Belize...it just makes me want to sit down and enjoy the conversation!
ReplyDeleteI see why those Asiatic Lilies are your pride an joy; they are beautiful. Thanks for taking us to the tropics with your beautiful tablescape.
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog's namesake for its sentiment.

Hi Anita!
ReplyDeleteThis is so elegant ... Your centerpiece is lovely ...what beautiful lilies~
What also strikes me is the way the light reflects off of the cut crystal candlesticks. It creates many "suns" that shine all over the table!
I have an old vase like that, it's short and wide ~ you've inspired me to dig that out of my "vase box" and go pick flowers!
Wishes for a lovely weekend ~ and sweet moments on the beautiful porch of your!
~Maria
Hi Again! Thank you so much for you compliment on the green and white tablesetting! I would love to see YOUR green and white setting! I know it would be so beautiful, please do!!! As for the goblets, I am searching hard to find the name but I cannot remember! I can tell you they were inexpensive and from Ross a few years ago, during Christmas. I had fell in love when shopping with a friend but did'nt buy them that day. I went back later and bought a set and then she gave me a set for Christmas. I will ask her if she remember the name. They are very heavy crystal, sold in a box of four side by side, and were one of the more common crystal brand names. I will keep my eyes open and let you know if I find out anything more. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAnita those are totally knockout plates and a great scape. Lots of fun and charming, too. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Jane F.
ReplyDeleteLove this. I have one of these red plates and a gold one from the same pattern hanging on our bedroom wall. I also use a small red bowl with this pattern, on my dresser to hold jewelry.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully exciting table, Anita! I adore RED in a dining room & always wanted to paint one wall that color. Very stimulating!
ReplyDeleteYour Fostoria candle holders are fabulous & mix just beautifully with the perfect Walmart placemats & those gorgeous plates!! BRAVO!!
Beautiful! I adore all of the color! Red is one of my favorites!
